My Ramadan's "Ayah of the day"s

The Quran is truly beautiful.

It's beautiful not just because of how comprehensive and perfectly written the Quran is but because of the state of mind you experience when you contemplate on the words of Allah. It is for this reason that I decided this Ramadan, I want to do more with the Quran than just reading it. I need to experience the pleasure of understanding it and meditating on its meanings. So everyday, as I was reading the Quran, I stopped at the verses that caught my attention and tasted the pleasure of contemplating on them, then shared them with others (on facebook).

Now that Ramadan is over, I will do more than just sharing my favorite 30 verses from the Quran; I'll be writing more about each verse (ayah), why I liked it, how I understand it, what its interpretation is and when/why it was revealed to the prophet (pbuh).

These are my favorite 30 Ayahs of Ramadan 2011 :)

Ayah of the day 30:



"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me" Quran 51:56

Ayah of the day 29:



"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." Quran 49:13

Ayah of the day 28:



"O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful." Quran 49:6

Ayah of the day 27:



"And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend." Quran 41:34

Ayah of the day 26:



"Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." " Quran 39:53

Ayah of the day 25:



"and do not turn your cheek away from people, and do not walk on the earth haughtily. Surely, Allah does not like anyone who is arrogant, proud;" Quran 31:18

Ayah of the day 24:



"Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness]." Quran 30:41

Ayah of the day 23:



"And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought." Quran 30:21

Ayah of the day 22:



"O ye who believe! enter not houses other than your own, until ye have asked permission and saluted those in them: that is best for you, in order that ye may heed (what is seemly)." Quran 24:27

Ayah of the day 21:



"Allah will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which you used to differ." Quran 22:69

Ayah of the day 20:



"And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss." Quran 22:11

Ayah of the day 19:



"And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds." Quran 21:107

Ayah of the day 18:



"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided." Quran 16:125

Ayah of the day 17:

"We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)." Quran 15:9

Ayah of the day 16:

"Have you not seen how Allah has set forth a parable: A good word is like a good tree, having its root firm and its branches in the sky.It brings its fruits at all times with the will of its Lord. Allah sets forth the parables for the people, so that they may take lesson...."

Ayah of the day 15:



"The deeds of those who refuse to believe in their Lord are like ashes blown away by the wind on a stormy day. They will not be able to gain anything out of what they did. That is the farthest point of straying away from the right path." Quran 14:18

Ayah of the day 14:



"Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." Quran 13:28

Ayah of the day 13:



"And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register." Quran 11:6

Ayah of the day 12:



Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah." Quran 10:59

Ayah of the day 11:



"O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts,- and for those who believe, a guidance and a Mercy." Quran 4:57

Ayah of the day 10:



"Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector": and on Allah let the Believers put their trust." Quran 9:51

Ayah of the day 9:



"But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." Quran 8:61

Ayah of the day 8:



"Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds:" Quran 6:162

Ayah of the day 7:

Say, "Not equal are the evil and the good, although the abundance of evil might impress you." So fear Allah, O you of understanding, that you may be successful." Quran 5:100

Ayah of the day 6:



"For this reason, We decreed for the children of Isra‘il that whoever kills a person not in retaliation for a person killed, nor (as a punishment) for spreading disorder on the earth, is as if he has killed the whole of humankind, and whoever saves the life of a person is as if he has saved the life of the whole of humankind. Certainly, Our messengers have come to them with clear signs. Then, after all that, many of them are there to commit excesses on the earth." Quran 5:32

Ayah of the day 5:



"O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do." Quran 5:8

Ayah of the day 4:



"O men, fear your Lord who created you from a single soul, and from it created its match, and spread many men and women from the two. Fear Allah in whose name you ask each other (for your rights), and fear (the violation of the rights of) the womb-relations. Surely, Allah is watchful over you." Quran 4:1

Ayah of the day 3:



"You shall never attain righteousness unless you spend from what you love. Whatsoever you spend, Allah is fully aware of it."

Quran 3:92

Ayah of the day 2:

"When My servants ask you about Me, then (tell them that) I am near. I respond to the call of one when he prays to Me; so they should respond to Me, and have faith in Me, so that they may be on the right path" Quran 2:186

Ayah of the day 1:

"Surely, in the creation of heavens and earth, and the alternation of night and day, and the ships that sail in the sea, carrying that which benefits men, and in the water Allah sent down from the sky, then revived with it the earth after it was dead, and in every creature He has scattered on it, and in turning of winds, and in the clouds employed to serve between heaven and earth, there are signs for those who have sense." Quran 2:164
